MT. VERNON – Travis Chapman was sworn in Tuesday morning as Mt. Vernon’s Assistant Police Chief.
According to Mt. Vernon Police Department Facebook post, Chapman is a 17-year veteran of the Mt. Vernon Police Department. Chapman is a U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmer veteran, served as a police officer in Las Vegas for two years, has been a patrolman, field training officer, corporal, sergeant, and captain in the patrol division, internal affairs officer, firearms instructor, officer of the year, previous team leader on ILEAS WMD Special Response Team, and is the Team Commander for the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High Risk Team.
