MT. VERNON – The Mt. Vernon Fire Department will begin fire hydrant testing, weather permitting Tuesday.

The affected area will be primarily south of Broadway, from South 27th to South 30th streets. This will also include portions of Harlan Road, Brownsville Road, Bethel Road and by Continental Tire.

Residents are cautioned that testing can cause discoloration in the water supply in the area being tested.

If there is rain Tuesday, these hydrant tests will take place another day next week.
