METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Aug. 12, 2024. 

On Aug. 5, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to the Metropolis Elementary School for a possible domestic disturbance by the AC units. Upon arrival, officers learned that it was only a verbal argument. A computer check on the subjects involved revealed that William E. Brunson, 50, of East Peoria, IL, was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was for a Kentucky parole violation. Brunson was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

On Aug. 6, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to McDonald’s. The caller stated that a subject that the MPD had previously trespassed from the property had returned and refused to leave. Danny Vires, 31, of St. Cloud, MN, was asking for food and money multiple times. Vires refused to leave after the officers arrived. He was charged with criminal trespass to property and was released on a notice to appear.

On Aug. 10, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to a disturbance in the 700 block of West 19th Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim’s vehicle window had been broken by her ex-boyfriend, Chris J. Sailer, 19, of Benton, KY. Sailer was located near Linwood Auto and arrested for criminal damage to property. He was released on a notice to appear. 

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
