CARTERVILLE – Carterville Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 600 block of Grand Avenue just after 11 Sunday morning.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered two gunshot wound victims who were subsequently transported to area hospitals.
Law enforcement from multiple agencies arrived at the scene to investigate.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, This does not appear to be a random act of violence and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The Carterville Police Department remains the lead investigating agency and is being assisted by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigations was requested to provide forensic assistance.
