METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024.
October 29, 2024
Clayton A Williams, 24, of Metropolis was arrested in the parking lot of the Smallville Suites. Williams was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Retail Theft. Williams was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis officer stopped a gray Ford pickup on East 12th Street near 5th. The registration came back on a red Ford pickup and the registration was suspended due to no insurance. The driver, Lawrence W. Holmes, 62, of Brookport, still had no proof of insurance. Holmes was charged with Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration and Improper Use of Registration. He was released on a notice to appear.

Metropolis officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1100 block of Butler. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who had been struck in the head with a bottle and bit multiple times. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. Elayshia NA Shae Boey, 26, of Metropolis was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery. She was released on a notice to appear due to being in the late stage of pregnancy.
Metropolis officers were called to Harrah’s Casino for a report of a subject cheating at gambling. Ellis Quinn Jr., 62, of Memphis, TN, was caught increasing his bets after the dice game was over approximately 10 times swindling Harrah’s Casino out of approximately $3,000. A check of Quinn revealed a warrant out of Colorado for gambling violation with nationwide extradition. Ellis was arrested, cited for Cheating at Gambling, and lodged on the warrant at the Massac County Detention Center.
