CARBONDALE – The American Red Cross and SIU Carbondale are partnering together for the 15th year, hosting the Homecoming Blood Drive Wednesday.
It will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the SIU Student Center on Lincoln Drive.
This blood drive is one of the largest single-day blood drives in Carbondale and hopes to collect over 130 lifesaving blood donations.
Annually, all registered student organizations compete for the coveted SIU Homecoming Blood Drive trophy. The student organization which collects the most points wins. Students can earn points by attempting to donate, recruit other people to donate on their registered student organization’s behalf, and by volunteering at the drive. The SIU Homecoming Blood Drive has collected nearly 3,000 blood donations in their 15-year partnership with the American Red Cross.
As a thank you, everyone who presents to donate blood will receive an exclusive Salukis on the Frontier Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last. Additionally, those who come to give will receive a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card by email, plus be automatically entered for a chance to win one of three $5,000 gift cards.
