ANNA/MARION/MT. VERNON – In a momentous and celebratory event Monday, Deaconess Illinois proudly announced the renaming of three of its hospitals: Union County Hospital in Anna, Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, and Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

They are now known as Deaconess Illinois Union County, Deaconess Illinois Crossroads, and Deaconess Illinois Medical Center, respectively. This significant change marks the beginning of a new era of care for Southern Illinois.

Shawn McCoy, Deaconess CEO, expressed his excitement, stating, “Today, we’re not just revealing a new name; we’re ushering in a new era of care for Southern Illinois. This change represents our unwavering commitment to these communities and our dedication to elevating healthcare standards in the region. While the names on the buildings may be changing, our core values and mission remain the same. We are, and always will be, devoted to providing the highest quality care to every patient who walks through our doors.”

“I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to our employees,” McCoy said. “You are the heart and soul of this institution. Your commitment to our patients and this community is nothing short of inspiring. Through every challenge, through every triumph, you’ve been there, delivering compassionate care with unwavering dedication. This new era we’re entering is a testament to your hard work and devotion. Remember, this is more than just a name change. It’s a symbol of Deaconess Illinois’ promise to this community – a promise of continued growth, enhanced services, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in healthcare.”

William Davis, President of the Deaconess Illinois Region, shared his thoughts on the exciting developments.

“Since joining the Deaconess Illinois family, we’ve already made significant strides. We’ve welcomed over 51 new providers to our team in the region, expanding our ability to serve you and your loved ones,” Davis said. “We’ve added more services, specialists, urgent care facilities, and clinics throughout the area. Moreover, we’ve made a significant shift in our strategy that will greatly benefit our community. We’ve begun working more collaboratively with independent physician groups who have been long-established pillars of healthcare in our area. This new approach represents an evolution in our philosophy and demonstrates our commitment to expanding access to high-quality healthcare services in Southern Illinois.”

The renaming of these hospitals is a reflection of Deaconess Illinois’ dedication to its patients, community, and employees. The celebration emphasized the importance of community support and collaboration in achieving healthcare excellence.

This new era of care is about our patients, our community. It’s about ensuring they have access to the best possible care, close to home. It’s about building a healthier, stronger Southern Illinois, together. As Deaconess embraces this new chapter, we want the community to know our commitment to this community is stronger than ever. We’re here for you, today and every day, ready to serve your healthcare needs with skill, compassion and dedication.

Deaconess Illinois extends its heartfelt thanks to the community, patients and employees for their continuous support and trust. This new chapter promises continued growth, enhanced services and a relentless pursuit of healthcare excellence, ensuring Southern Illinois residents receive the best care possible.
