MURPHYSBORO – The Jackson County State’s Attorney’s office announced Thursday that 40-year-old William Johnston was sentenced on three counts of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver – all Class X felonies.

Jackson County State’s Attorney Joseph Cervantez said in a one-day trial, his office presented evidence that Johnston sold meth in varying amounts to an individual in Jackson County on three separate occasions.

After a contested sentencing hearing, the defendant was sentenced on all three counts to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The investigation was led by the Southern Illinois Enforcement Group.
