MARION – The excitement is building as PONY Baseball’s Colt World Series makes its grand return to Marion, bringing together some of the finest 16U baseball talent from around the globe. This year’s competition promises to be a thrilling showcase of skill, teamwork, and international camaraderie, featuring 10 exceptional teams. Representing local pride and global diversity, the lineup includes two regional teams, four national teams, and four international teams hailing from Nicaragua, the Czech Republic, Mexico, and Japan.
The action kicks off on Friday at 9 a.m., with the opening ceremonies scheduled for 6 p.m. the same evening, setting the stage for an unforgettable weekend of baseball. Alongside regular play, a special Champions game is slated for Saturday at 6 p.m. As a highlight of the weekend, the Southern Illinois All Conference Baseball and Softball players will be honored before the 8 p.m. game on Sunday, celebrating the achievements of local athletes.
The series will culminate in a highly anticipated championship game on Tuesday night at 7 p.m., where a new champion will be crowned. Each game promises to be a testament to the hard work and dedication of these young athletes, making it an event not to be missed.
Tickets are available at the Mtn Dew Park box office, with a special offer for youth 15 and under who wear a local jersey and are accompanied by an adult – these young fans can enjoy the games for free. Additionally, before the official start of the series, there will be a friendship game where Team Southern Illinois welcomes the Czech Republic. This game will start at 5:30 p.m. at Ray Fosse Park on Field 7.
