BENTON – State Representative Dave Severin (R-Benton) announced he is extending the deadline to complete and return forms to participate in his 2024 “Oceans of Possibilities” summer reading program. Students reading eight books this summer and returning their forms to Rep. Severin’s office by the Friday deadline will be invited to a free pool party at the Mt. Vernon Aquatic Zoo on Tuesday, Aug. 6. Details will be provided to students and parents/guardians upon submission of completed forms. The deadline to submit completed forms is being extended to this Friday, July 12 , before midnight.
“We will have a great time hosting a pool party for the students who successfully participate in the program. I welcome all incoming 1st through 4th graders in the 116th district to participate,” Severin said. “We have had great participation in the program so far, and we are now extending our deadline so that as many students that wish to join my summer reading club as possible can do just that!”
Representative Dave Severin’s Oceans of Possibilities Magic summer reading club challenges 1st through 4th graders to read eight books during their summer break. Books for local library programs are also acceptable and books over 150 pages may count for two books. Once a student completes reading eight books, a parent or guardian can verify that the books were read by submitting their summer reading form through the mail to 303 N. Main St., Benton, IL 62812. Students can inquire about the program by calling 618-440-5090 or by emailing Severin@ILHouseGOP.org.
