METROPOLIS – A Golconda man is facing drug-related charges following a recent traffic stop in Metropolis.

According to Metropolis Police, an officer stopped a Dodge pickup truck on West 10th and Simmons on Thursday, March 21.

The truck had a defective windshield and the officer recognized the driver, 46-year-old Jimmy D. Werner of Golconda. The officer was aware that Werner’s driver’s license was suspended.

Werner was taken into custody and a search revealed a black box containing numerous items of drug paraphernalia as well as three loaded syringes containing a controlled substance, and two baggies containing methamphetamine.

Werner was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Deliver, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Werner was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
