CARBONDALE – A Carbondale resident is facing gun-related charges after Carbondale Police responded Thursday night to the 900 block of East Grand Avenue for a report of a person brandishing a firearm during a dispute.
Police say 23-year-old Kaliyah D. Parker was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and No Firearm Owners Identification Card. Parker was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
According to police, they found a group of individuals engaged in an argument. As they were investigating, officers heard a gunshot near their location. Officers eventually located two loaded firearms that had been discarded in the area. Investigating officers arrested Parker and took the suspect to jail.
Carbondale Police continue to investigate the shooting.
