School Registration Underway in Franklin County

BENTON – Students attending Benton High School will register for the new school year next week. Freshmen will register from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Registration for all grades will run from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Child Dies in Swimming Pool Accident in Elkville

ELKVILLE – A 5-year-old child died after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool at an Elkville home Wednesday morning. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office say emergency personnel arrived to the scene around 7:30 and began resuscitative measures immediately.
