McLeansboro and Hamilton County Officials to Discuss Central Dispatch Issue Today

MCLEANSBORO – The McLeansboro City Council committee dealing with the intergovernmental agreement for central dispatch with Hamilton County is planning to meet with their County Board counterparts today to discuss the issue.

At Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, there was no formal proposal presented as it was the second formal bargaining position sent from the county. The negotiating committees will meet today with hopes that the formal proposal for both parties will come from the meeting.

In other business, the council approved authorizing a letter of intent notifying Southern Illinois Power Co-Op of the city’s support in establishing an electrical interconnect with the City of Fairfield; Richard Woods and Bill Reed spoke on needed interior repairs at McCoy Library; Bruce Morrison and Bill Reed requested work assistance from the city to complete needed drainage repairs and updates at Kiwanis Park; and Mayor Dick Deitz appointed, with council approval, department assignments for aldermen and various department heads. Regarding drainage issues at the fire department, it was discussed, but no action was taken due to no formal plans with costs being presented.

Haeley Peters was hired as manager and Raegan Halley was hired as assistant manager of the City Pool for the summer, Aldermen Dale Biggerstaff and Tom Maulding were authorized to hire additional lifeguards and serve as overview for the pool.

Agenda items for a request from Hamilton County Economic Development, the executive session and action on a specific employee were dropped as there was no new information presented for consideration.

Prior to the business portion of the meeting, Ward 1 Alderman Billy Glenn and Ward 3 Alderman Dale Biggerstaff were sworn in as new members of the City Council. Glenn was elected to the vacant seat left by Mark Beck. Biggerstaff replaces Mike Stanart.
