Suspect Sought in Monday Morning Bank Robbery in Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON – Mt. Vernon Police continue to investigate a reported robbery that happened around 9:50 Monday morning at People’s National Bank in the 500 block of Main Street.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his early 20s, standing 5’4” tall, wearing a black hoodie and black jeans. He gestured as if he had a weapon, but none was displayed. He was last seen walking northbound on Sixth Street from Broadway.

Mt. Vernon Police detectives, patrol officers and Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area and scene. A Mt Vernon Police Department crime scene technician also responded to the scene to process it for evidence. The FBI has joined the investigation.
