Carbondale Man Charged for Allegedly Firing Gun into Crowd

CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man is facing gun charges after Carbondale Police saw him allegedly firing a handgun toward the crowd of people at the Hollywood Lounge in the 100 block of West Jackson Street in Carbondale early Sunday morning.

According to Carbondale Police, officers were monitoring a crowd of people at Hollywood Lounge when the incident happened. Officers attempted to apprehend the subject and he ran from the area. Officers chased the subject and arrested him in the 300 block of East Jackson Street.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jermaine Ross, is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of weapons, reckless discharge of a firearm, resisting arrest and unlawful use of weapons by a felon. Officers recovered a handgun at the scene of the incident.

Ross is being held in the Jackson County Jail. No one was injured during the incident. Police continue to investigate.
