MVPD Seek Person of Interest in Early-morning Shooting

MT. VERNON – Mt. Vernon Police are investigating an early Saturday morning shooting in the 400 block of South 17th.

Dispatch received a call at 3:14 a.m. of a woman who had been shot. Mt. Vernon police officers, the Mt. Vernon Fire Department and Litton’s Ambulance responded to the call.

Officers made contact with the woman and rendered first aid until medical personnel arrived on the scene. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Additional Mt Vernon police officers, a Mt Vernon Police Crime Scene Technician and Mt. Vernon police detectives were called in to assist.

During the investigation, a person of interest was identified. Officers checked several locations around Mt. Vernon but have been unable to locate the person.

This is an ongoing investigation.
