MARION – A 22-year-old Hurst man was sentenced Friday in Williamson County to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for a probation violation.
Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti says the case stems from a 2015 charge where Gage M. McKnight was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 1 felony.
On Aug. 24, 2015, McKnight discharged a firearm at a Herrin building. He was arrested and later pled guilty to the charge. McKnight was then sentenced by a judge to probation in June of this year.
McKnight was found to be in violation of his probation by testing positive for drug use, and a second sentencing hearing was held on Nov. 30, where McKnight was then sentenced to five years in state prison.
