Cairo Resident Killed in Weekend Shooting on Bill Emerson Bridge in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU – Illinois State Police say a Cairo resident was killed in a shooting that happened Sunday on the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge linking Cape Girardeau, Missouri to East Cape Girardeau, Illinois.

The preliminary investigation shows that two vehicles were on the bridge and shots were fired. One vehicle made a U-turn and went back to Missouri. The vehicle was stopped by Cape Girardeau Police and it was discovered that a passenger in the vehicle, 26-year-old Dalvin R. Taylor of Cairo, had been fatally shot. The other vehicle fled the scene and has not been found.

ISP says this is an open and ongoing investigation. No further information is available right now.
