ANNA – Two people are recovering following a crash involving a car and a semi around 11 Wednesday morning on northbound I-57 at Route 146 near Anna.
According to Illinois State Police, the semi – driven by 49-year-old Derek Adams of Houston, Texas – exited the interstate at exit 30 and proceeded down the ramp toward Route 146. He failed to stop at the stop sign at the bottom of the off ramp on 146 and ran into the path of a car driven by 35-year-old Gylian Moore of Alto Pass.
Moore’s car collided with and became wedged underneath the trailer Adams was towing. The semi continued through the intersection and came to rest on the northbound I-57 on ramp.
Moore and her passenger, a minor, were transported to out of state hospitals with serious injuries. ISP did not say if Adams was injured, but he was cited for failure to yield at a stop intersection.
The northbound I-57 on ramp at exit 30 was closed for five hours for the crash investigation and cleanup. The investigation into the crash continues.
